Abstract

DARIAH-IT is the Italian Node of DARIAH-EU, whose core mission it shares. It seeks to provide advanced services based on the use of ICT to researchers in the arts and humanities, combining technological development with education and training, promoting collaboration and joint research, communication and dissemination, sharing of experiences and tools in the field of the Digital Humanities and Digital Cultural Heritage. It also aims to develop tools to connect and reuse the wealth of scientific material available, while ensuring interoperability, preservation and data security, across different academic contexts and communities.
The digital revolution showed the huge potential of technology in transforming arts and humanities research. DARIAH-IT provides state-of-the-art digital research tools and promotes their use by a wide and multidisciplinary community of researchers.

Goals

DARIAH aims to enhance and support digitally-enabled research and teaching across the humanities and arts. DARIAH develops, maintains and operates an IR in support of ICT-based research practices. By working with communities of practice, DARIAH brings together individual state-of-the-art digital A+H activities across Europe. It preserves, provides access to and disseminates research that stems from these collaborations and ensures that best practices, methodological and technical standards are followed. DARIAH is a connected network of tools, information, people and methodologies for investigating, exploring and supporting research across the broad spectrum of the Digital Humanities. Objectives of participation in DARIAH includes: increased visibility of national research at the EU level Increased international collaboration opportunities; enhancing exchange of knowledge, skills, expertise, training opportunities and good practice; increased potential for the sustainability of the outcomes digital research projects after the end of project funding; helping to ensure the sustainability of tools and services; increased access to research data, tools and services via the DARIAH.
