Abstract

A wealth of cosmological and fundamental physics information is hidden in the spectral distortions of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). Here we propose a differential spectrometer to measure the absolute spectral brightness of the sky at mm wavelenghts (120-300 GHz). The instrument is based on arrays of Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KID), an imaging Fourier-Transform spectrometer, a high accuracy cryogenic blackbody reference, and operates at the Dome-C site (Antarctica), during the antarctic winter. The main target of this measurement is to study with high accuracy the limits represented by local (atmospheric and Galactic) foregrounds to the search for spectral distortions of the CMB, and, if accurate enough, to detect the y-distortion due to reionization and diffuse ionized matter at large scales.
