VALERIE Project

Fire test on the three-storey building SOFIE at the Building Research Institute (BRI) in Tsukuba (Japan) in March 6, 2007 succeeded in maintaining its mechanical properties and structural integrity even after more than one hour of blast. The "VALERIE" project ("Fire Risk Assessment - Fire reaction of construction products") is a research project to implement a standard procedure for the assessment of design of buildings with wood structures and of their compliance with minimum fire safety requirements carried out by the IVALSA with the support of Provincia Autonoma di Trento, with the co-operation of the Fire Brigade Department of Trento.
