EMBO Workshop "Spatial Omics and complexities of human diseases: Resolve and Solve"

Dal 23/10/2024 ore 08.30 al 25/10/2024 ore 14.00

Sala convegni, sede centrale, Cnr - Piazzale Aldo Moro, 7 - 00185 Roma, Italia

Next October, starting from 23 till 25, a workshop titled "Spatial Omics and complexities of human diseases: Resolve and Solve" will be held in Rome, in the Cnr headquarters.

One of the biggest puzzles in Biology is to understand how trillions of cells which comprise a human body interact with each other to support life. Spatial Omics, as it is collectively known and includes several spatially resolved technologies, is set to provide answers to this question.

Specifically, Spatial Omics allows the measurement of the activity of biomolecules like RNA, DNA, proteins, and other omics in situ—directly from tissue samples. This is fundamental because most physiological and pathological processes entail localized cellular interactions taking place in spatially heterogeneous tissue environments. Spatial omics permits previously indiscernible cellular organization and biological phenomena to be viewed in extraordinary detail.

The topics covered in this EMBO Workshop will include spatial tissue profiling and cell atlas, innovative multiplexed bio-imaging, cellular interactions, in situ multi-omics and AI based data analysis. We have invited some of the best and pioneering scientists to share their wisdom and experience with younger and upcoming colleagues. The workshop will discuss fundamental technological and computational advances and foster collaborations and further breakthroughs in this exciting Omics confluence.
