Abstract
the aim of this project is To optimize and produce systems based on hyaluronic acid (HA) and anti-inflammatory drug (diclofenac) for simultaneously drug delivery and viscosupplementation applications. Systems based on HA and fatty acids, HA and cyclodestrin, HA and Pluronics as well as novel amphiphilic HA derivatives will be considered. To this aim the rheological, release and biocompatibility properties of the prepared systems will be investigated. These new materials, indeed, will have rheological behavior similar to viscosupplementation agent already available in orthopedics and at the same time they will be able to control the release of anti-inflammatory drug to human joints.
