Profilo:
Giulio Cerullo is a Full Professor with the Physics Department, Politecnico di Milano, where he leads the Ultrafast Optical Spectroscopy laboratory. His research activity focuses on the generation of tunable few-optical-cycle light pulses and on their application to the study of primary photoinduced processes in molecules, nanostructures and two-dimensional materials. He has published more than 500 papers which have received over 30000 citations. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, of the European Physical Society, a member of the Accademia dei Lincei and past Chair of the Quantum Electronics and Optics Division of the European Physical Society. He has been General Chair of the conferences CLEO/Europe 2017, Ultrafast Phenomena 2018 and International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy 2022. He is the 2023 recipient of the EPS-QEOD Quantum Electronics Prize.

L'attività di ricerca è principalmente dedicata allo studio con metodi ab initio delle proprietà chimiche e fisiche diinterfacce e materiali inorganici e ibridi organico/inorganico, sianell'ambito della realizzazione di dispositivi fotovoltaici/fotosintetici (partecipazione a progetto MEF e progetto premiale MIUR "Energia da Fonti Rinnovabili" (EFOR), sia nell'ambito dellarealizzazione di dispositivi optoelettronici a semiconduttoreorganico (partecipazione come responsabile di unità CNR al progetto premiale MIUR "Elettronica Organica per Strumentazione innovativa di ricerca" (EOS) ed al progetto PRIN 2017 "Boostingsustainability in plastic electronics: the key role of functionalsurfactants as reaction medium and dispersing agents" (BOOSTER), che nell'ambito della valorizzazione dei materialiibridi di scarto composti da fasi inorganiche disperse in polimeri per loro riuso nell'industria automobilistica (partecipazione al progetto "RICIRCOLA"). Tutte le attività di ricerca di questi ultimi anni hanno prodotto pubblicazioni su riviste internazionali, consolidando la sua reputazione internazionale nel campo del modelling con metodi ab initio delle proprietà chimiche e fisiche di materiali inorganici ed ibridi organico-inorganico usati in molteplici ambiti di applicazione tecnologica.

VALENTINA TOZZINI

MS and PhD in Physics of matter and Med-Phys Specialization at Univ of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore, Valentina Tozzini dedicates her research to multi-scale computer simulations (development and applications). She was visiting scientist at the Univ of Nijmegen (NL) and at the Univ of California San Diego, where she started building a network of international collaborations, resulting in national, international and EU grants of which she is coordinator or participant. As CNR staff (currently, Director of Research at Istituto Nanoscienze) she studies advanced materials for environment (H-storage, water purification), for high tech (nano-electronics, particles detectors), and bio-systems for nano-medicine (therapeutical agents, intra-cell sensors, advanced radiotherapy), with over hundred papers co-authored. VT is a member of the Board of Istituto Nanoscienze, associate editor of Front Mol Biosci, and was in number of committees, including ISCRA and PRACE, and remote reviewer for ERC starting grant PE4. She teaches Biophysics, Structure of matter and Numerical methods for the BS and MS in Physics at Univ of Pisa, and is also active in science popularization, as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group on Science, Technology and Society of CNR (Area Pisa).
